A century of posts (featuring Ms. Deeva)

This is my 100th blog post!

Since I started this blog because of Ms. Deeva, I thought I should dedicate the 100th post to her.

I met up with Ms. Deeva today.  This is how the interaction went:

Me: Hi Ms. Deeva!

Ms Deeva: Hi!

Me:  Guess what?

Ms. Deeva: Wait, wait…don’t tell me!

Ms Deeva: After a fraction of a second…Ok, I can’t stand it any longer.  Just tell me!!!  What is it?!

Me: I have decided to dedicate my 100th post to you!

Ms Deeva:  Oh my goodness…I am so honored.  Thank you!

Me:  You are welcome.  Thanks for, so far, letting me share the story of your transformation…and of course…falling in love with Elmo.

Her eyes light up on the mention of Elmo.

  Ms Deeva:  Oh…yeah…blushing. My pleasure.

Me:  So, I am thinking of adding a new character to my blog.  Her name is Usa Doll.  She’s right over there…

Ms Deeva: Uh…

Ms Deeva: Why do her eyes look so lifeless?? A little creepy if you ask me…

After giving it a second thought

Ms Deeva: But everyone deserves a chance.

Me: Glad to hear you say that Ms Deeva.  I am proud of you!  You are becoming a new person.  I am looking forward to doing more blogs about you.  Until then…Take care and see you soon!

Ms Deeva skipped off to find Elmo.

Usa Doll just sat there. I bade her good bye.  She continued to just sit there.  I figured she was probably just in a meditative state.  “Lucky her”, I thought to myself as I drove back home.

Thanks to all my readers for your encouraging words.

The Rendezvous – Ms Deeva and Elmo

RECAP:  Elmo and Ms Deeva met at a “Modesty Bootcamp” and struck up a friendship.  In the last episode, Ms Deeva was in her movie star dressing room, without her hair and make-up crew.  It was a daunting first-time experience for her.  After struggling through a few hair-dos, she learned that she did not have to put up pretenses just to be with a friend.  It was a breakthrough moment for her!

Ms Deeva – “How’s my hair?”

RECAP: The last time we met Ms. Deeva, she had just met Elmo in the “Modesty Bootcamp”.  They struck up a friendship and became support buddies for one another.  I am happy to announce that they successfully graduated from the Bootcamp and decided to move on with their lives as more grounded individuals.  On the last day of camp, they agreed that they would meet at a local restaurant in one week.

A week later…

Ms. Deeva was in her dressing room trying to get ready for her rendezvous with Elmo.  It was the first time she was there without her “Hair and Makeup” crew.  She was not sure where to begin! “NOW I realize how hard my crew worked for me”, she thought, regretting the times that she had been so demanding and unreasonable.

She stared in to the mirror with a blank stare.  She turned left, she turned right…trying to decide on how her hair should land.  She did like the way her hair looked when she tilted her head to the left – her yellow locks looked wind-blown, with her bangs falling gently beside her eye.

“But I might get a crick in my neck if I have to hold this position all through dinner…probably NOT a good idea”, she concluded.

Suddenly her eyes lit up! “What about a partial up-do?”  She hurriedly opened the drawer and found a bunch of bobby-pins, and u-pins.  She got very busy trying to get the up-do to look JUST right.

“It does look REALLY nice…but I think it’s a little too much.  I look like a Flamenco dancer!” she sighed, starting to get a little frustrated.

“Why am I trying so hard to impress him?” she wondered.  “Wouldn’t it just be easier to be MYSELF – rather than putting  up the facade of looking and being PERFECT?”  Before she could even finish her thought, she she started removing each pin thoughtfully from her hair.  She then quickly tossed them into her dresser and brushed out her hair.  She looked in the mirror and smiled with satisfaction, “There you are…the REAL Ms. Deeva!”.  She felt so liberated!

She was now ready to meet her good friend, Elmo!

Ms. Deeva learns to LOVE (someone other than herself)

After serving about two months in prison, Ms. Deeva was offered the possibility of an early release.  She was absolutely thrilled!  There was only one catch:

She had to attend a two week “Modesty Bootcamp”.

The agenda topic for the the first day of bootcamp was “I shall not refer to myself as ‘I’, ‘We’ or by Name!”.  “Wow, they sure mean business in these bootcamps…tough cookies!”, thought Ms. Deeva.  The challenge of the bootcamp had just begun…

During this session, she sat next to a charming, happy, young man. “What is HE doing here?  He seems nice enough…constantly laughing and all”, she wondered.  She slowly built up the courage to talk to him and asked him, “What brings YOU here?”  He sighed, “Elmo loves Elmo’s World a little too much”.  His answer couldn’t have been clearer – He was as into himself as she was herself.  This was a match made in Ms. Deeva Heaven!  “VERY pleased to meet you Elmo”, she said, and in her excitement pecked him on the cheek!

“I would like to be your friend – is that ok?” she asked Elmo, blushing slightly.  Elmo responded bashfully, “Elmo DOES love having friends…especially pretty ones like you Ms….I am sorry, Elmo doesn’t know your name”. “Deeva…you can call me Dee”, Ms. Deeva replied coyly.

From that point on, they went on the journey of self improvement TOGETHER.  It was only then that Ms. Deeva realized that there was more to the world than “Ms. Deeva”.

How better to mark the start of a great friendship than with a classic…Selfie!!!
